An ultra-premium, small production winery nestled in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley, located just 30 minutes from San Diego, between Interstate 15 and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. The tasting room and patio overlooks the 70-acre estate. Our tree lined family friendly picnic area features grassy knolls and picnic tables. Orfila produces critically acclaimed wines using Italian and French varietals, including those from the Rhne Valley, Burgundy and Bordeaux. We source our grapes from both the estate and select vineyards from Sonoma, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties. Our winemaker, Andrew Wisniewski, carries on our tradition of making award-winning wines in San Diego County.
Since it's opening in 1994, Orfila Vineyards has been the recipient of more than 1,300 medals in national and international competitions - a testament to the complexity, grace and opulence of our wines.

Tasting Room Manager
Orfila Vineyards & Winery is seeking a dynamic and experienced Tasting Room Manager to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room in Escondido, CA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wine, possess exceptional customer service skills, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in leadership. You will play a critical role in driving sales, ensuring a superior guest experience, and developing a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team to be advocates for the Orfila brand.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development:-
Lead, motivate, and manage the tasting room staff to deliver top-tier guest service and promote a team-centric culture.
- Foster a positive, supportive work environment, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs focused on wine knowledge, customer service excellence, and sales techniques to elevate team performance.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, providing regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure personal and professional growth within the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and work to resolve any conflicts or challenges with a solutions-based approach
Customer Experience & Service Standards:- Ensure all guests receive an exceptional wine tasting experience that reflects the high standards and values of Orfila Vineyards & Winery.
- Act as an ambassador for the Orfila brand, sharing its rich history, philosophy, and wine-making process with guests.
- Uphold a consistent standard of service excellence, ensuring the tasting room environment is welcoming, organized, and visually appealing.
- Manage guest inquiries, reservations, and events to optimize the guest experience, addressing any service issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the Events Manager to oversee tastings, events, and private tours, ensuring smooth execution and a high level of guest satisfaction.
Sales & Financial Management:- Collaborate with the Wine Club Manager to drive tasting room sales through effective merchandising, wine education, and outstanding guest service.
- Work together to monitor and achieve sales goals, including wine sales, club memberships, and merchandise.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop strategies to increase foot traffic, boost revenue, and enhance the overall guest experience.
- Manage the tasting room's daily financial operations, including cash handling, inventory management, and sales reporting.
Brand Advocacy & Knowledge:- Serve as a passionate advocate for Orfila Vineyards & Winery, deeply understanding and conveying the story, philosophy, and nuances of our wines to staff and guests.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Orfila wine portfolio, including current releases, vineyard sources, and winemaking techniques.
- Train staff to educate guests effectively about our wines, encouraging sales, wine club sign-ups, and a connection with the Orfila brand.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee daily tasting room operations, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safety at all times.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, working closely with the winemaking and production teams to ensure the proper stock of wines, merchandise, and tasting room supplies.
- Collaborate with the Events Manager to plan and execute both onsite and offsite events, such as wine club member gatherings, corporate tastings, and seasonal promotions, to enhance the winery's visibility and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a winery tasting room or hospitality management role.
- Proven track record in leading teams and driving sales.
- Strong understanding of wine and wine service, committed to ongoing education.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Passion for hospitality, customer service, and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Certified Sommelier or WSET Level 2 (or higher) certification or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in event management and wine club membership development preferred.
