Chief Operations Officer (COO)
to join our Executive Management Team. Reporting to the Regional HUB President, the COO will play a pivotal role in executing operational strategies that align with our company’s mission, vision, values and growth objectives. This leadership role is essential for optimizing our operational structure, driving continuous improvement, growth and ensuring successful service delivery across multiple departments and locations in boundaryless ways.The COO will lead the operational strategy, integrating high-level objectives with day-to-day operations. This position requires a leader with strong executive presence, balancing strategic vision with hands-on management for operational excellence.The ResponsibilitiesLead the development and execution of operational strategies in alignment with the company’s strategic business plan.Collaborate with the Executive Management Team (EMT) to ensure consistent operational performance and improvement.Identify areas for efficiency improvement, oversee strategic planning, and resource allocation while adhering to budget constraints.Provide leadership to department heads and senior management, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational priorities.Oversee the integration of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, transition planning, and resource management.Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.Ensure compliance with government regulations and adapt to changing market conditions, industry trends, and customer expectations.Maintain strong internal and external partnerships, including collaboration with regulators, vendors, and broader regional teams.Ensure scalability as the company grows, while controlling costs and enhancing operational efficiency.Advise the President and other senior management team members on key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions.Partner with the Regional VP’s, CMO, CSO, VP HR and EVP of Operations to identify operational inefficiencies and areas for improvement to better support the business.Collaborate with the management team to address underperforming locations and implement solutions.Work with the EVP of Operations and Regional VPs to set performance goals aligned with the company’s strategic plan.Participate in programs and services, developing a broad and deep knowledge of the brokerage insurance industry.Lead and coach the senior leadership team, emphasizing strategic analysis, planning, and operational initiatives.Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring accurate reporting on progress and challenges.Identify areas for possible centralization of activities and job duties to maximize efficiencies.Facilitate operational oversight for multiple departments and identify opportunities for maintaining the most efficient operation.The RequirementsMinimum 7+ years’ insurance brokerage experience in an operational capacity.Strong people leadership, with experience managing senior teams across multiple departments within a competitive and rapidly changing work environment.Demonstrated ability to maximize team performance through effective leadership and emotional intelligence, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high engagement.Demonstrated executive presence by making sound judgments, data driven decisions, navigating complex challenges, and managing competing priorities, while strategizing, analyzing tasks, and monitoring quality metrics.Proven expertise in M&A integration, operational excellence, resource management, and cost control.Industry designation (CAIB, CIP, FCIP, CRM) with deep knowledge of personal, commercial, and employee benefits insurance matters.Exceptional problem-solving, conflict resolution, and strategic planning skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Broker Management Systems (EPIC, BenefitPoint, etc.).Strong background developing teams and leaders, providing coaching and mentorship on growth and career planning to aid in succession planning.Commitment to continued learning and development for leadership, management, sales, and client experience.Superior verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to influence others and a strong focus on detail.Must be able to travel by air and vehicle across the region.The expected salary range for this position is $190,000 to $230,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
