DESCRIPTIONThe City of Corona has an exciting part-time opportunity to join our Information Technology Department as a
Help Desk I.
The Help Desk I performs a variety of duties including assisting users with desktop operating systems, hardware and software; troubleshooting and repair duties of a wide range of printers and peripheral equipment and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and resolving service/trouble calls remotely and processing service requests.

KnowledgeKnowledge of basic troubleshooting methods and techniquesKnowledge of customer service and time management principles and practices.Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, and procedures.Knowledge of personal computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers and various peripheral equipment and devices.Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.Ability to receive, interpret and perform assignments and instruction.Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to operate personal computers, printers, and modern office equipment.Education & Experience:Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy.Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent,And one year of full-time work experience in the Information Technology field.OR

Candidates who pass the written exam will be invited to a Hirevue online interview. Passing candidates will be invited to schedule an in-person oral interview tentatively scheduled for December 2, 2024. The top scoring candidates from the in-person oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

The Organization

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is $ 399.1 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 209.6 million. Corona enjoys a workforce of 922 dedicated employees who provide high quality services to its residents and visitors each day.
