The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.Metra’s Human Resources Department’s mission is to recruit and retain qualified employees in a diverse workforce; treat all employees fairly; facilitate training and professional development for career growth; effectively manage and administer compensation; negotiate and administer flexible benefit programs that provide quality and value; administer medical leaves and related services; promote wellness; provide confidential and efficient records administration; ensure that Metra’s policies and procedures comply with all laws governing employment, benefits and other ancillary services; and foster an environment of trust and mutual respect with employees as well as internal and external partners.Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compensation the Senior Compensation Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating compensation programs that contribute to the organization's ability to attract, retain, and engage qualified employees as part of Metra's business strategy.The primary duties include:Analyze new and existing jobs using market data, established procedures, and internal equity to remain competitive and meet ever changing organizational and market dynamics.Design and conduct compensation surveys, analyze survey data, and make recommendations to maintain market competitiveness.Evaluate employee and applicant education and experience and recommend salaries for new hires, promotions, and other job changes.Work with managers to draft and update job descriptions; research jobs to ensure appropriateness of duties, qualifications, knowledge, abilities, and skills; and maintain the job description library.Analyze compensation data and produce reports to support compensation programs including the annual merit budget, salary structure management, and compensation projects.Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment.Perform otherrelated duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration.Open Until FilledJob Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years in Human Resources.In addition to #1, must have five (5) years of compensation experience.Considerable knowledge of federal and state labor laws (EEO, FLSA, ADA), regulations, and guidelines affecting compensation practices.Considerable knowledge of salary planning tools and methods, job evaluation techniques, and market survey analysis.Considerable knowledge of compensation practices and principles.Strong quantitative reasoning, mathematical aptitude, organizational, and analytical skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Good collaborative skills as demonstrated by working with all levels of staff both within and outside of the department.Intermediate skill using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Ability to take initiative, be flexible, and prioritize and manage assignments.Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.Preferred:Experience with HRIS systems.Metra employees in an active review period under the current discipline policy or who have documented attendance or performance issues will not be considered and/or selected for this position.Please note:
