THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is one of the leading companies at the intersection of tech and advertising and they are looking for a highly talented Payroll Supervisor to join their finance team. Reporting to the Vice President of Accounting, the Payroll Supervisor will oversee and lead the company’s international payroll operations, ensuring precise, compliant, and timely payroll processing across multiple regions. This role involves managing the full scope of payroll activities, including system upgrades, reconciliations, and tax filings, while ensuring smooth coordination with HR systems. The right candidate should have extensive knowledge of global payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting standards, along with a track record of successfully implementing efficient payroll procedures. Experience with ADP Workforce is highly preferred.

PAYROLL SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage payroll processes across multiple countries, including the U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, and other regions as required. Ensure all payroll activities adhere to local and international regulations, delivering accurate and timely payments.

Ensure the accuracy of payroll data, including wages, salaries, bonuses, benefits, overtime, deductions, and tax liabilities. Maintain compliance with applicable payroll laws and standards.

Oversee payroll-related journal entries and accruals (such as bonuses and taxes), while supporting the month-end close process. Ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll-related accounts, including 401K, FSA, HSA, and other employee benefits transactions.

Lead the rollout of new payroll systems and work with HR to integrate payroll with HRIS platforms. Optimize system capabilities to streamline payroll operations and enhance reporting.

Manage payroll tax filings, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations across different jurisdictions. Oversee the correct calculation and timely submission of payroll taxes, and manage any related audits.

Partner closely with the HR team to ensure payroll records align with HR data, including compensation, benefits, employee changes, and time tracking. Maintain ongoing communication to address and resolve any inconsistencies.

Perform regular payroll reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Conduct periodic audits to maintain payroll compliance with both internal policies and external requirements.

Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes through automation and best practices. Implement tools to improve efficiency, minimize manual work, and streamline workflows.

Act as the primary contact for employee payroll-related inquiries, ensuring timely resolution of issues regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and other payroll concerns.

Provide senior leadership with detailed payroll reports, including variance analysis and insights on payroll trends. Lead and develop payroll team members to foster their growth and improve overall performance.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll management experience.

Experience in implementing and integrating payroll systems with HRIS platforms.

Familiarity with ADP Workforce or other payroll systems.

Experience managing payroll for additional countries outside the listed regions.

Advanced knowledge of Excel and payroll reporting tools.

Certification in payroll (CPP or equivalent) is a plus.

Strong knowledge of payroll-related journal entries, tax accruals, and managing month-end close activities.

Proven ability to handle payroll reconciliations for employee benefits such as 401K, FSA, and HSA.

Deep understanding of payroll tax laws at the federal, state, and international levels, including experience managing tax filings and registration for multiple countries.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams including HR and Finance.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities with precision and attention to detail.

Possesses a collaborative mindset, adept at building robust relationships and influencing stakeholders across all organizational levels.
