Financial Analyst Job Summary
The Financial Analyst in the healthcare sector is responsible for providing financial and accounting support, offering detailed financial analysis, and ensuring the financial health and regulatory compliance of the organization. The role involves budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and supporting accounting processes, while contributing to the overall strategy by analyzing operational and financial data to enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.

Salary: $80,000+

Financial Analyst Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Analysis & Reporting
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, including profitability, cost variance, and cash flow analysis.
    • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Analyze healthcare trends and their impact on financial outcomes, providing actionable insights for leadership.
  2. Accounting Functions
    • Assist with general accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
    • Ensure accuracy in financial records, maintaining the general ledger and overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
    • Support the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and healthcare financial regulations.
    • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payroll, and financial transactions.
    • Assist with tax compliance and reporting, including the preparation of tax filings and coordination with external auditors.
  3. Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.
    • Prepare long-term financial forecasts based on historical data, current trends, and strategic initiatives.
    • Create and maintain financial models to project future revenue streams, operational costs, and capital expenditures.
  4. Operational & Strategic Support
    • Provide financial insights to support decision-making in clinical and operational areas, including cost management, resource allocation, and investment in new initiatives.
    • Monitor regulatory changes in the healthcare industry and assess their financial and accounting impact on the organization.
    • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives by conducting financial due diligence, accounting reviews, and risk assessments.
  5. Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement procedures.
    • Identify and mitigate financial and accounting risks by performing sensitivity analysis and recommending risk management strategies.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and compliant financial and accounting records.
  6. Cash Management & Reconciliation
    • Oversee the organization's cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity and managing short-term investments.
    • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash disbursements to ensure alignment with organizational policies.
    • Reconcile discrepancies and resolve issues related to accounting transactions and financial records.

Financial Analyst Qualifications

  • Education
    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus.

  • Experience
    3-5 years of experience in financial analysis and accounting, preferably within the healthcare industry.
