To perform responsible technical duties related to computer hardware and software customer support; provide project support for new and modified systems; and install and configure desktop and mobile computers and related software and peripheral equipment.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Information Systems Analyst I

- This is the entry level class in the Information Systems Analyst series that allows the incumbent to develop journey level knowledge and abilities. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Employees work under general supervision while learning job tasks.

Information Systems Analyst II

- This is the journey level class within the Information Systems Analyst series and is distinguished from the Information Systems Analyst I by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. This position will have an active role in database administration, network administration, infrastructure maintenance, applications technology, project management, cross-functional exposure and more.

Essential Functions

Installs and configures desktop computers, printers, and other desktop peripherals such as scanners and cameras; installs and supports various software and trains customers in the use of hardware and software.Supports and troubleshoots client/server systems, databases, and networks; performs basic diagnostic testing; analyzes root cause of problem and develops long-term solutions; identifies and reports network problems to the proper network areas.Monitors and analyzes security components including SIEM systems, endpoint security, vulnerability analyzers, and active directory policies.Configures and delivers laptop, notebook and tablet computers; sets up and trains customers in their use.Monitors and performs minor changes to firewall appliances, VOIP equipment and SIP components.Analyzes failed equipment and performs repairs or returns equipment to vendor; reviews and tests vendor repairs.Provides technical support in diagnosing and solving problems by telephone or remote access; responds to help desk requests according to urgency and priority levels; logs calls into help desk database and uses helpdesk software.Participates in projects related to PC deployment, software and hardware procurement, or hardware consolidation.Develops documentation and standard operating procedures as they relate to assignment.Deploys and maintains mobile devices, including mobile data computers, wireless routers and a variety of related peripheral devices.Provides backup technical support for network including router, switches, and wireless equipment.Assists users with log-on authentication; instructs users in saving data to network server resources as appropriate to ensure data backup and recovery.Performs research to resolve problems or refers to higher-level staff.Maintains and tracks inventory; assists in asset management of personal computers, laptops, and related peripheral equipment.Performs routine maintenance on computer hardware, operating systems, and peripherals.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications

Information Systems Analyst I:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems or a closely related field. Two (2) years of professional experience performing duties similar to that of an Information Systems Analyst I with the Agency may be accepted in lieu of the required education.No professional experience is required.Information Systems Analyst II:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems or a closely related field. Four (4) years of professional experience performing duties similar to that of an Information Systems Analyst I with the Agency may be accepted in lieu of the required education.Two (2) years responsible professional experience performing duties similar to that of an Information Systems Analyst I with the Agency.License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's license and be insurable with the Agency's insurance at the standard rate, and continue to meet the established driving standards as a condition of employment for this position.One or more of the following certifications are desirable: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Technology Associate, Cisco Certified Network Associate, and Cisco Certified Technician.Physical and Environmental Demands

Standing & Walking - Primarily sedentary classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required.Lifting - Ability to safely lift up to 10 pounds overhead and 20 pounds to waist level; both these requirements include bending at knees to facilitate proper lifting techniques: 1 minute up to 5 minutes per day.Manual Dexterity - Ability to perform multiple work activities requiring a significant level of physical and mental coordination, such as operating a computer keyboard, copiers, and adding machines, and writing: 1 hour up to 8 hours per day.Visual - Ability to read printed materials and view a computer screen for long periods: 30 minutes up to 8 hours per day.Hearing and Speech - Ability to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.Mobility - Ability to work in a standard office setting and operate a motor vehicle to visit various meeting sites, reach, carry, push, pull, stoop, and bend.ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
