VOIP and Communications Admin. (Temp):The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.Job Description:This position administers the VoIP system in coordination with VoIP vendors and IT leadership. The position requires excellent communication skills and interacts with all employees (at all levels of the company) supporting VoIP devices, VoIP software, and cellular devices, as well as liaising with vendors.Responsibilities:This position requires well-versed knowledge of Telecommunications with respect to the following disciplines:Working with the VoIP vendor to mitigate downtime and technical issues that could adversely impact HOC's operational processesApplication and management of 'soft phone' technology in conjunction with the network systems and hardware devices used by HOC employeesManaging a cache of Cellular devices to ensure HOC staff are adequately equipped with productive toolsPrimary responsibilities:Provide technical assistance and support for VoIP issues, as the first layer for HOC employees and the IT Division.Identify and resolve issues relating to Telephony and act as the liaison for HOC's Communications providers.Provide technical support for HOC's VoIP platforms.Tracks and documents all end-user support in the helpdesk system, ensuring timely communications and closure of issues.Perform Telephony network and system administration.Perform Moves, Adds, &/or Changes within the VoIP platform (managing this platform with the assistance of the VoIP vendor).Sets up new users and relocates existing users with telephony requirements and/or supplies, including voice mail and access managementEnsures the HOC telephone directory stays current.Works with the Technical Operations Manager in the coordination and installation of all data communication services.Performs site visits to set up and deliver equipment, address outstanding issues, and meet with vendors.Minimum QualificationsExperience:At least three (3) years of applied experience within this discipline (Telecommunications and/or VoIP management)Education:Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Management, or equivalent.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Working knowledge of Telecommunications.Working knowledge of Cellular device management.Working Knowledge of the use of 'soft-phone' technology.Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions that deal directly/indirectly with the Telecommunications discipline.Strong communication skills including knowledge of document producing software and its use.Ability to work in a team environment as well as an independent and individual contributor.Ability to interpret technical documentation provided by the VendorHOC is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
