ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for an Intern at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Paycom Center is the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA), Oklahoma City Blue (NBA G-League), and premier concerts. We are seeking a creative Event Services Intern to work alongside our team! This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience in event operations, customer service, and venue management. You will work closely with the Event Services team to learn and ensure the successful planning and execution of a wide range of events hosted at Paycom Center. Interns are expected to work a minimum of fifteen (15) to twenty (20) hours per week (non-traditional hours with weekend and evening commitments). This internship is a college semester commitment (it is preferred the candidate is currently enrolled in a minimum of a 2-to-4-year program), with the internship concluding at the end of the semester.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in ensuring proactive planning, communication, and execution of a wide variety of events including concerts, professional basketball games, shows, private events, and meetings at the Paycom CenterAssist the Event Manager and Sr. Event Manager in day-to-day administrative tasks.Provide excellent customer service to event organizers, clients, attendees, vendors addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.Contribute to the sustainability of event related information such as event information templates, technical packets templates, and event supply inventory.Assist in inspections to ensure venue readiness and compliance with safety regulations.Assist with the ingress and egress of entry via ticket taking, walk through metal detectors, and bag searchesAid in the facilitation of part-time staff training through instruction from the Event Services TeamWork in command center dispatching radio traffic during a variety of events when scheduled to that position.Work with vendors on event logistics to meet planning deadlines.Organize & purchase supplies for events as needed.Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Services team.Desired Qualifications and Skills
Working towards an Event Management, Hospitality, Sport Management, or a related field undergraduate or graduate degree.Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to take initiative, but also able to ask for direction when needed.Strong analytical skills: ability to organize large amounts of information.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookSelf-starter who takes initiative, highly reliablePolished and professional when dealing with members, prospective members, sponsors, and executive management.Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; flexibleFollow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.Maintain and handle confidential information.Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
