GIS Analyst I positions.
Under direct supervision, the Geospatial Analyst I will perform entry-level geospatial work to include collecting, processing, analyzing and maintaining basic spatial and tabular data using ArcGIS Pro to support the agency. Create a range of basic cartographic products. Emphasis will be placed on supporting bureau level operations to highlight and expand geospatial support.
Job Duties:
Provide support for geographic information systems and develop entry-level geospatial solutions to support specifically assigned bureau related operational activities. Support geospatial solutions during mission-critical activities during emergency operations. Provide technical back-up for GIS based solutions as assigned. Adhere to Department of Environmental Science GIS Section standard operating procedures.Perform basic analysis of spatial data which includes data processing, and data quality. Develop geospatial solutions and cartography products to meet customer requirements. Provide technical backup to other geospatial data sets as assigned to include emergency response layers.Act as geospatial consultant to customers and work with specifically assigned bureau staff to ensure geospatial products promote agency goals. Assist with problem resolution utilizing geographic information systems.Prepare and maintain project documentation for geospatial support. Provide appropriate administrative documentation/project communication.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma with relevant work experience in the geospatial or geography disciplines or an associate's degree in geography.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of fundamental geospatial concepts, geospatial data, and cartographic design along with terminology used in conveying geographical information.Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ESRI Mapping platforms such as ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Storymaps, and ArcGIS for Microsoft 365.Must have the ability to establish working relationships with management, committee / work team members and customers.Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application are encouraged to upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application.
