ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.Perform PC hardware, software and operating system installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, one-on-one training, telephone support and similar activities of moderate difficulty with little or no direct supervision.Set up and support desktop and laptop computers, printers, off-the-shelf software, custom software, dial up and IP network connections and security.Confer with end users to determine types of hardware and software required to achieve specific goals.Participate in evaluating new hardware and software, and related standards.May write small applications and utilities using Java, Visual Basic, perl, or other scripting languages.May require learning basic LAN or other system administration skills.Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with the normally scheduled hours of work. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION Associates Degree or accredited technical school certificate in personal computer and/or network support, or a certificate of competency in personal computer and/or network support. Four years experience providing personal computer and/or network support in an information technology environment may substitute for the Associates Degree/Certification requirement.EXPERIENCE None.CRIMINAL HISTORYWhen assigned to Criminal Justice Information Services DataEmployee will not have record of being convicted of a Class B or higher misdemeanor in the past 10 years in order to work with and view Criminal Justice Information Services data. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid driver's license.WORK SCHEDULEMonday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm CST.Hybrid telecommute possible after probationary period with Director approval. Coverage is available to all full-time employees at group rates.The City offers free Vision Insurance to all employees. Dependents can be added for an additional fee. Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees: Supplemental Life, AD&D Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Long-Term DisabilityTexas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account.
