**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - ICU

**Shift:** 12-Hour Nights

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience required; travel experience preferred unless previous float pool experience and 2+ years of experience

**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** BSN required; ICU level RN, willing to float to MedSurg/Tele

**Job Description:**

- The role consists of floating throughout various units within the hospital.- The nurse will manage complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma, with diagnoses such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, and multiple system trauma.- Cardiac experience is preferred, handling cases like CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hours post-operation.- As a float pool nurse, the professional may be assigned to Intermediate Care, Telemetry, or MedSurg as needed.- Common diagnoses in non-ICU assignments include Orthopedics, Neuro, Surgical, Medical, Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Oncology, and Heart and Vascular issues.- Patient care ratios for ICU are generally 1:1-3, while it is 1:4-5 for IMC, Tele, or MedSurg.- Essential skills include proficiency with IV medications, hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, chest tube maintenance, and more.- Autonomous but with support from CNAs, charge nurses, and consistent access to hospitalists and respiratory therapists.- Required to wear navy blue scrubs during shifts.- Participation in the weekend rotation is every other weekend.- No on-call duties. The holiday schedule is every other holiday.- Time off is flexible, accommodating up to 7 days but with certain restrictions.- Familiarity with Epic charting system is preferred.
