The Director is responsible for developing and overseeing business opportunities at a premier food service distribution company located in Boston, MA. Primary duties include working closely with other company executives, sales and marketing management teams, and sales representatives, meeting with potential business partners, and monitoring market trends to identify and develop new and emerging markets and potential clients. Additionally, this person will be actively involved in educating both current and potential customers about new initiatives and programs developed by the company.
Reporting Structure: Reports to Company President and Senior Vice President
Qualifications:
- Five or more years in a similar position with a food company; preferably a foodservice purveyor or distributor
- Excellent references
- Track record of accomplishment
- Tireless work ethic
- Keen knowledge of the New England hospitality marketplace including contacts
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational abilities including above-average presentation skills
- College level degree
- Basic computer skills
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Various outreach activities aimed at attracting new clients achieved by innovating and managing the prospecting process
- Research Sales; Identifying and researching opportunities that come up in new and existing markets, specifically:
Target Markets:
- Independent local hotel, restaurant and foodservice chains
- Cruise lines out of Boston and other New England ports
- Airline caterers
- Local contract Feeders and/or On-site caterers
- Independent retail chains
- Territory-based street sales
- Home meal delivery
- Independent retailers
- Non-profit accounts – food banks and pantries etc
- Major and/or national restaurant chains
- New and emerging markets
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain active prospect list in each category with updates sales interactions
- Provide weekly written activity reports to Company President and Senior Vice President
- Continue to develop and refine the business proposal format
- Assist Sales Representatives develop prospects and leads in their respective territory
- Prepare sales strategies and presentations to potential new clients
- Create and manage outbound sales campaigns
- Maintain and update client activities in CRM and internal systems
- Develop rapport with key decision makers
- Translate proposals into ready-to-sign contracts
- Manage both CRM and weekly planner/outcome manual program
- Own the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation
- Target: $6-8 million in new sales through research contribution and support
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Requirements:
- Northeast resident
- Associate degree (Required)
- Business development: 3 years (Required)
- Foodservice Sales: 5 years (Required)
- Must relocate to Boston, MA area before starting work
