The Director is responsible for developing and overseeing business opportunities at a premier food service distribution company located in Boston, MA. Primary duties include working closely with other company executives, sales and marketing management teams, and sales representatives, meeting with potential business partners, and monitoring market trends to identify and develop new and emerging markets and potential clients. Additionally, this person will be actively involved in educating both current and potential customers about new initiatives and programs developed by the company.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Company President and Senior Vice President

Qualifications:

Five or more years in a similar position with a food company; preferably a foodservice purveyor or distributorExcellent referencesTrack record of accomplishmentTireless work ethicKeen knowledge of the New England hospitality marketplace including contactsExcellent written, verbal, and organizational abilities including above-average presentation skillsCollege level degreeBasic computer skillsPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:

Various outreach activities aimed at attracting new clients achieved by innovating and managing the prospecting processResearch Sales; Identifying and researching opportunities that come up in new and existing markets, specifically:Target Markets:

Independent local hotel, restaurant and foodservice chainsCruise lines out of Boston and other New England portsAirline caterersLocal contract Feeders and/or On-site caterersIndependent retail chainsTerritory-based street salesHome meal deliveryIndependent retailersNon-profit accounts - food banks and pantries etcMajor and/or national restaurant chainsNew and emerging marketsAdditional Responsibilities:

Maintain active prospect list in each category with updates sales interactionsProvide weekly written activity reports to Company President and Senior Vice PresidentContinue to develop and refine the business proposal formatAssist Sales Representatives develop prospects and leads in their respective territoryPrepare sales strategies and presentations to potential new clientsCreate and manage outbound sales campaignsMaintain and update client activities in CRM and internal systemsDevelop rapport with key decision makersTranslate proposals into ready-to-sign contractsManage both CRM and weekly planner/outcome manual programOwn the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementationTarget: $6-8 million in new sales through research contribution and supportSchedule:

Monday to FridayWeekends as neededRequirements:
