POSITION OVERVIEW:The purpose of this classification is to serve as a member of the InformationTechnology department as to facilitate Morgan County Sheriff's Officetechnology solutions by planning, implementing and maintaining complexInformation Technology systems and software.
REPORTS TO: Captain of Investigation, Chief, Sheriff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the listinclude all tasks found in a position of this class)•Acts as administrator for and maintains county server systemsincluding VOIP phone system, Munis ERP system, and self-serviceportal as needed.•Acts as administrator for and maintains the Sheriff's Office server system.•Acts as Domain Administrator creating and removing users and permissions as needed.•Writes, tests and implements all Group Policies for the Office.•Maintains Network wiring diagrams and switch code backups.•Ensures that server backups are run on a regular basis.•Acts as administrator for imaging of new computers.•Performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning,design, and installation of new and existing personal computersystems, workstations, servers, printers, phone network devices andother equipment.•Performs network system analysis to maintain operational efficiencyand ensures that all network equipment is maintained in good workingcondition at all times.•Configures and installs various hardware, software and maintainsexisting components; prepares/installs cabling.•Troubleshoots and resolves issues with computer systems and serverequipment located throughout the organization.•Evaluates products for compatibility, expandability and ease of use andsupport then recommends to management the support or nonsupportof evaluated products.•Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.•Manages and implements passwords for security purposes inaccordance with policy.•Responds to questions, problems and requests for information,guidance and assistance, takes and relays messages or directs callsto the appropriate personnel, returns call as necessary.•Maintains a working knowledge of RMS, JMS and CAD.•Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
•Associate degree in Computer Science or related field.•One to five years of experience in a Systems Administration, or relatedfield; or any equivalent combination of education, training andexperience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilitiesfor this job.•Experience with Domain Level Group policies is required•Experience with desktop imaging is required.•Experience with virtual desktop implementation is required.•Preference will be given to candidates with Certification in Cisco,Microsoft, VMware, Cyber Security or other related technology.
