Under the direction of the secondary school principal, the Dean of Students will perform assigned duties in the areas of general administration, student discipline and attendance, employee supervision, school safety, student support, and campus life.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SALARY (Prorated based on start date):
$69,306 - $75,592 (10 month Yearend administration position with Principal's Certificate)
$52,701 - $57,474 (10 month Yearend exempt position without Principal's Certificate)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with school leadership and staff to create systems and procedures that will minimize disruption to the learning environment and maximize student learning
- Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations
- Deal with student discipline issues that arise, investigating and conferring appropriate consequences for behavior
- Recommend appropriate action to be taken concerning threats toward students and assist in implementation
- Counsel students and parents about school and district policies and procedures
- Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations
- Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of individual student behavior plans
- Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues
- Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies
- Work with community and governmental agencies on problems relating to drug abuse, discipline problems and truancy from school
- Provide support services for students needing crisis intervention, emotional/social support and conflict resolution
- Supervises and evaluates support staff members to include observations and collection of pertinent information for the purpose of evaluation
- Participate in the coordination, implementation and supervision of the extracurricular program of the school, extra-curricular clubs, activities, and advisory programs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with teachers and administrators at school site
- Ability to objectively investigate incidents to determine appropriate consequences and follow-through
- Ability to utilize various problem-solving techniques
- Ability to remain patient and supportive of students experiencing behavioral and academic difficulties
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of site and district discipline policies and procedures
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience, with increasing levels of responsibility in the school setting
- Demonstrated ability in managing student behavioral, academic, and attendance issues
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field
- Principal's Certificate
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Training in behavioral management techniques
