Posting Context Statement
Assists in the development/monitoring/coordination of university equal opportunity & affirmative action (EEO/AA) functions. Independently performs professional-level duties including consultation/guidance to managers, search committees & unit EEO/AA coordinators, ensuring fair & equitable hiring process through routine review & audit of employment action, interpreting, communicating & applying federal/state regulations/guidelines & university policy to recruitment & selection processes, assisting with compiling data for various EEO/AA reports. Has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Overview
The EEO Specialist assists the Director, Employee Development and Workforce Diversity in the development, monitoring and coordination of EEO/AA functions of the University of Idaho.
This position independently performs a variety of professional-level tasks including:Providing guidance to hiring managers, search committees and unit equal opportunity/affirmative action coordinatorsEnsuring fair and equitable process through routine review and audit of employment actionsInterpreting, communicating and applying federal and state regulations/guidelines and university policy to recruitment and selection processesDesigning and delivering training and resource materials to various university groups and assisting with compiling data for various EEO/AA compliance related reportsUnit URL

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
Three years experience in human resources or recruitment and hiring or equal opportunity/affirmative action complianceExperience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive informationExperience working effectively with and creating/maintaining effective relationships with a variety of community members. This includes the ability to problem solve, exercise good judgement and maintain a professional and personable demeanorExperience with discretionary decision making, independent problem solving and working closely and constructively with a wide variety of community membersRequired Education
High School Diploma or equivalentRequired Other
Demonstrated professional written communication skills, including the ability to draft, proofread and layout various documents for the intended audience and business English, spelling, composition, and grammar abilityDemonstrated professional verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely explain guidelines and practices to othersExperience developing and presenting training in both in person and virtual formatsDemonstrated ability to multi-task and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders with conflicting needs and timelinesDemonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and related word processing, spreadsheet and database softwareAdditional Preferred
