Responsibilities
The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA's Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficiently provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.
The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.
The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.
Peraton is seeking to hire a Software Engineer to join this new SWGS-MOS program.
This position is contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities:Support integration of Peraton OS/Comet, as well as mission planning and mission data processing tools, as part of Satellite Ground Systems solutions.Leverage existing domain experience hosting solutions in Cloud environments.Design large-scale distributed systems using microservices and containers.Work with team lead to help decompose the work needed to implement new features or address defects within the operational software.Work with the development team using agile methodologies combined with mature software practices and a technology-supported development infrastructure.Develop new software and adapt existing software by implementing new capabilities.Maintain cognizance of industry tools, best practices, and procedures.Interface with customers to understand use cases and define requirements, design Cloud capable solutions, support system level testing, and field the solution in customer environments to support the mission.Communicate with leadership on status, issues, milestones, and successes.
Qualifications:
Active Public Trust clearanceBachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant software experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related software experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related software experience.4+ years of experience with Peraton OS/Comet development and integration.4+ years leading software teams to deliver enterprise solutions that implement RESTful Web Services, Microservices and/or Cloud components (AWS preferred).2+ years of experience with DevSecOps.Preferred Additional Skills:
AWS Solutions Architect and AWS Sys Ops certification(s).Kubernetes Administrator certification(s).8+ years of experience in software development (knowledge of Java, C/C++, React, Python).Excellent ability to analyze problems and to focus and drive down to the root cause of problems quickly.

Target Salary Range
