Responsibilities
The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA's Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficiently provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.
The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.
The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.
Peraton is seeking to hire a Mid-Level Software Integration & Testing Engineer to join this new SWGS-MOS program.
This position is contingent on contract award.
Key Responsibilities:Perform system level software integration and test (I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives. This includes the test and integration of COTS-based systems and custom software, from the system design phase through development, documentation, installation, and commissioning of the completed system.Generate test procedures for the validation and verification of software components to analyze requirements for integration and/or testability issues.Support test readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports.Organize, execute, and report on software testing.Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing and efficient use of resources.Utilize RedHat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments.Create and modify bash scripts.Write and edit scripts in Python, Perl, Powershell, Java, C, etc.Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment.Support development and maintenance of automated testing.
Qualifications:
Active Public Trust clearance.8+ years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles; specifications and testing.Experience developing test scripts using Python, Perl, Powershell, Java, C, etc.Experience with RedHat Linux.Experience working in a Cloud Environment using containerization.Experience working in an Agile development environment.Extensive experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office products.

Target Salary Range:
