The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA's Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficiently provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.Peraton is seeking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join this new SWGS-MOS program.This position is contingent on contract award.Support the development and sustainment for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications that covers the entire Software Development Lifecycle ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives.Develop, debug, test, and document software written in Java, C++, Powershell, Python, Perl, Groovy, Bash, XML, etc.Write and maintain automated tests.Confer with systems engineers, test engineers, and other cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions to complex problems.Support release planning, through level of effort estimates and tasking prioritization from experience and investigations.Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment.Provide mentoring to junior members of the team.Qualifications

Active Public Trust clearanceBS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or related technical discipline with 8 years experience, a MS and 6 years experience or a PhD and 3 years. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles.Experience developing software using Java, C++, Python, Perl, Powershell, Bash etc.Familiar with common software development tools including Git, Gradle, Ant, Jenkins, etc.Experience working in an Agile development environment.Extensive experience with Windows OS.Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., JUnit).Experience with VHDL and developing Linux RHEL drivers.Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, Bitbucket, etc.#SWGMSPeraton Overview

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
