Responsibilities
The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA's Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficiently provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.Peraton is seeking to hire a Mid-level Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join this new SWGS-MOS program.This position is contingent on contract award.Participate and/or support all phases of software development, including requirements analysis, design, code, test, and documentation.Contribute to the software quality assurance team to support development of standards and conventions.Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-up).Participate in technical exchange meetings, product demonstrations and training with the customers.Implements and performs process/product evaluations (audits) to ensure compliance with project established policies, processes, procedures and applicable standards.Performs a variety of technical and administrative activities related to the function of QA (auditing), including, but not limited to, scheduling, checklist development, report writing, facilitating root cause/lessons learned analysis, and internal/external presentations.Analyzes, compiles, and reports on findings of non-compliance and provides recommendations for improvement.Tracks and escalates unresolved non-compliance issues and corrective and preventative action plans to closure.Collects metrics, analyzes, and reports various measures to project manager/team and Corporate QA.Maintains the process assets library for the SWFO program, including all process definitions, templates, and document samples.Provides employee training for project management best practices. Interfaces with NOAA and internal customers to ensure project quality work products have been provided.Qualifications
Active Public Trust clearanceBachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 3 years of experience. Equivalent years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.7 years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.Ability to serve as a team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any project.Experience working with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, etc.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Experience working with asset management systems with database and workflow components.Experience working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.Peraton Overview
