Winston-Salem State University is actively seeking a visionary Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer who can drive client-focused HR programs and services to achieve excellence. The Deputy collaborates with stakeholders, possesses a strong background in all facets of HR programs, partners with the CHRO and campus leadership for efficient change management and succession planning, upholds a culture of excellence and accountability, and ensures compliance with employment laws.The Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer oversees several departments within HR: Talent Acquisition, Position Management, Employer Relations, EEO/Affirmative Action, and Learning and Development. This role involves providing overall direction to HR, supporting employees, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies.Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Execution
The Deputy collaborates with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and the unit’s Office Manager to integrate client-facing programs and services with the administrative/infrastructure activities of the HR Office, aiming to create a highly productive and synergistic working environment in human resources. The Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer provides day-to-day management and executive leadership for the functional units of the Division of Human Resources to ensure the full range of human resources strategic initiatives, recruitment and retention, and salary administration services are delivered in a timely and client-focused manner.Learning & Development
Responsible for building bench strength and a succession/career advancement pipeline in human resources. This position involves several key responsibilities, including training and supporting direct reports, maintaining standard operating procedures, and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.Change Management
Focus on maintaining and enhancing professional relationships to build credibility and support. Ensures the team comprehensively understands and communicates policies and procedures within the assigned HR area(s).To Apply
