Job Summary:

The Network Administrator is responsible for routine operations, installation, troubleshooting, and administration of an enterprise Cisco based network and virtualized VMWare server infrastructure with Windows servers. The ability to manage time and identify priorities is crucial.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Bethune-Cookman's IT infrastructure is a dynamic environment, and the applicant will be called upon to administer and support multiple diverse systems. Some of the systems that the applicant will be responsible for include NetApp SANs, VMWare ESXi Servers, Layer 3 Switches, PaloAlto Firewalls, Wireless Access Points, Windows Servers and Server Roles, Active Directory and AD Group Policy, VPNs, Azure AD, Google Workspace, Office 365 and an IP Based NVR Camera System.

Other responsibilities include: Troubleshooting server hardware issues, installing and troubleshooting structured data wiring, assisting other departments when necessary, troubleshooting and supporting faculty, staff and student issues, recommendation and implementation of improvements and new systems and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:A strong understanding of network protocols and concepts sufficient to monitor and manage network services in a Cisco environmentThe ability to manage Cisco layer 3 switches, PaloAlto firewalls, layer 2 edge switches, VPNs, and wireless access pointsA solid understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP network stack, troubleshooting techniques, and the ability to capture and analyze network trafficThe ability to act as a domain admin and install, manage, administer, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows servers and server roles, administration of Active Directory & AD Group Policies, DNS & DHCP administrationThe ability to manage and administer a clustered VMWare ESXi enterprise environmentThe ability to manage and administer NetApp SANsThe ability to manage and administer cloud applications like Azure AD, Exchange Online, Office 365, and Google WorkspaceA solid understanding endpoint securityAn understanding of structured low voltage data wiring and the ability to install and modify network closetsThe ability to mitigate risk and understand the ramifications and impact that decisions have at both a campus and systems levelAbility to manage time and resources and effectively balance multiple, competing prioritiesAbility to establish cooperative working relationships with technical staff and work within a high-performing teamCommunication skills sufficient to train and mentor staff and to create written documentation of procedures24x7 on-call access. Be available by phone to support major issues as they occur on nights and weekends and to perform software patching and upgradesEducation and Experience:•A Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology•A minimum of three years of experience in IT network or server administration

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

Previous IT experience in Higher EducationCyber security background/certifications; PCCSA (Palo Alto Networks Certified Cyber Security Associate)Professional certifications (e.g. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), VCP (VMware Certified Professional)Experience in administration of an enterprise VOIP phone systemKnowledge of layer 3 routing protocols and IPv65 years of experience with enterprise network infrastructure design, implementation and support concepts sufficient to manage, monitor and troubleshoot a PaloAlto, Cisco, Microsoft, and VMware network
