Job Description: Associate Attorney - Civil LitigationLocation: Ann Arbor, MIPosition Type: Full-Time, Hybrid after 12-18 monthsTravel Requirements: Infrequent and local travel for the first 12-18 months; 1-3 days a week of local and national travel thereafter.
About the Role:Are you an attorney who prefers the excitement of hands-on case work? A respected law firm is seeking a dynamic Associate Attorney to join their civil litigation team. This position offers a unique blend of office and fieldwork, with a focus on fire and explosion cases, along with products liability, toxic tort, and more. If you’re passionate about litigation and thrive in diverse environments, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:Litigation: Handle a variety of cases, primarily focusing on fire and explosion incidents, with additional exposure to products liability, toxic tort, CO poisoning, mold, and other complex cases.Case Management: Oversee case developments, coordinate with clients, and prepare for court proceedings.Field Work: Engage in on-site investigations and collaborate with experts, particularly in fire and explosion cases.Travel: Minimal travel initially, increasing to regular travel after the first 12-18 months, including both local and national trips.
Qualifications:Experience: 4-6 years of civil litigation experience preferred. Candidates with 2-10 years of experience will be considered.Licensing: Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan; multi-state and federal licensing is a plus.Expertise: Prior experience in fire and explosion cases is a significant advantage, though not required. Litigation experience is essential.Certification: Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification is highly desirable. If not certified, the firm will cover certification costs.
Work Environment:Schedule: Fully on-site for the first 12-18 months, transitioning to a hybrid schedule thereafter due to travel requirements.Culture: A collaborative environment where curiosity and problem-solving are encouraged. Ideal for attorneys who enjoy a mix of office and on-site work
