National Grid is hiring a Supervisor, Gas Field Operations (Restoration) for our Gas Damage Prevention/Paving and Restorationdivision in Lowell, MA (and also in Braintree, MA, please see other posting). This is a role that is approximately 50% in the field and 50% in the office (seasonal dependent).

Job PurposeThis role is responsiblefor supervising external PavingContractors, including scheduling, monitoring and quality control of asphalt, concrete, and other work associated with final restoration.Monitor safety, performance, productivity, and workload as needed to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness impacts from a safety and resource requirements perspective.Actively manage union employees, who are responsiblefor pavinginspections and gate box inspections to ensure DPU compliance accountability. While maintaining a cooperativeworking relationship amongst stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities- Assess the execution of final restoration at job sites to determinefield conditions and permit stipulations, and audit final restoration products to ensure work meets Company standards.
- Verify final restoration order sketches based on city and municipality specifications as submitted by M&S contractors or in-house crews.
- Manages the utilization of resources (personnel, vehicles, and equipment) to ensure a timely response, monitor safety, performance, productivity, and workload and re-balance as needed to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure that all pavingrequirements are performed in accordance with Company standards and procedures, PSC Code requirements, OSHA, DOT and municipal rules & regulations. Ensure accurate reporting of work including SOP's, work order historical, daily completion reporting, sketches, Operations Qualification, etc.
- Assess the execution of final restoration to verify accurate scope of work for invoice approval, and permit stipulations.
- Manage correspondence (e.g., emails and phone calls) and maintain close contact with public authorities, municipalities, city agencies, buildings, contractors, other departments within National Grid, and customers in performing and executing the scope of work.
- Monitor and manage customer complaints and violations regarding final restoration by utilizing relevant system to ensure timely resolution, as well as manage customer claims process regarding final restoration, including troubleshooting claim and negotiating appropriate plan of action.
- Supervisory experience, preferably with union workforce.
KNOWLEDGE & TRAINING:Effective communication skills with basic knowledge of asphalt and concrete restoration practices or the ability to learn. Proficientin Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) with the technical ability to learn programs specific to National Grid.
EXPERIENCE: The ability to work cooperatively with outside stakeholders while working independently. Prior supervisory experience with both union and non-union employees. Two years of experience in construction field preferred.
EDUCATION:Degree in engineering, construction management preferred, or 3+ years experience (Engineering, Construction Management or similar)
