Search Solution Group is looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician on behalf of our client, a premier manufacturer of specialty mineral and chemical additives. This role is based in Cincinnati, Ohio and is critical in ensuring the smooth operation, diagnostics, programming, and maintenance of plant packaging, process instrumentation, and control systems. The technician will work closely with the plant's Distributed Control System (DCS), programmable controllers, and HMIs to maintain optimal performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair plant packaging, process instrumentation, DCS, programmable controllers, and HMIs.
- Perform general electrical work, including troubleshooting power and building wiring.
- Program, design, and maintain plant control and interface systems.
- Conduct regular diagnostics, calibration, tuning, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations, reporting any injuries, illnesses, or environmental incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and update the plant's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Support scheduled preventative maintenance efforts.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Formal technical education is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with process and packaging equipment and other plant electrical control systems.
- Proficient in PLC, DCS, and electrical repair and troubleshooting (24VDC to 480VAC).
- Experience with plant computer networks and programming control systems.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and experience maintaining accurate data.
- Strong math, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors regarding progress and technical issues.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs., climbing, stooping, and balancing as required.
- Work Environment:
- This is a plant-based role, with exposure to dust, airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor conditions.
- The work environment can be noisy, and the technician will work near moving mechanical parts.
