Job Summary

Overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of Warehouse & Distribution Operations for the Richmond plant. Manages the entire distribution process from receiving, shipping and delivering in a 24/7 operation that produces premium, fresh-baked food products. Directs the work activities of approximately 100 salaried and hourly associates. Drives the continuous improvement process; identifies improvement opportunities and applies appropriate tools to improve bottom-line results and enhance the Company's competitive position. Develops the capabilities and competencies of associates through ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring; promotes associate engagement, empowerment, and teamwork. Ensures full compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, as well as Company policies and standards related to safety, quality, and workplace conduct.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead and support finished product/POS distribution and customer service efforts. Responsibilities include shipping operations, varied customer channels & requirements, CSL, recall traceability, and thrift reduction. Achieve goals for inventory accuracy and position tracking. Direct safe, operable, SQF ready condition of (multiple) facilities, warehouses, lots, and equipment.

  • Direct and support Distribution duties: truck scheduling, field coordination, crewing, and related processes.

  • Develops inventory tracking, reporting, and troubleshooting that impact Finished Product, WIP, Ingredients, and Packaging inventory accuracy.

  • Direct and support raw material releasing, expediting, and nonconformance resolution.

  • Direct and support raw material receiving and line supply. Achieve plant goals for inventory accuracy and position tracking. Strive for 100% physical and system match.

  • Promote and lead intradepartmental cooperation and synergies to enhance the effectiveness, flexibility, and results.

  • Development of key departmental metrics and tools for associate communication to increase engagement.

  • Supervise the preparation and attainment of the Warehouse and Distribution department budgets.

  • Support job safety; equipment, procedures, and training.

  • Complete other duties as assigned or not scheduled.

Job Complexity:

  • Responsible for the daily management of the Warehouse & Distribution departments, as well as for strategic planning, budgeting, enabler identification, and execution.

  • Must possess the ability to overcome resistance to organizational change, influence hourly and salaried associates to embrace it, and lead Continuous Improvements.

  • Must develop and maintain rapport with associates at all levels of the Campbell Soup/Pepperidge Farm organization to drive results. Must interface effectively with multiple departments/functions in the plant, as well as Corporate and Sales.

  • Must possess the ability to train a diverse group of employees, adapting training programs and presentation style to fit the audience.

  • Strategic planning for Supply Chain effectiveness and continuous improvement.

  • Work with all levels of management, carriers, vendors, and sales.

  • Logical, organized, and multi-task oriented. Daily decisions on crewing issues, business changes, contingency plans.

  • Strong communication, strategic, and leadership skills.

  • Fully understands SAP transactions for Purchasing, Scheduling, Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse functions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school degree or GED
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory/planning experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's orM.A./M.S. degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing/consumer product industry

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Cross-functional operations experience with a proven track record of delivering successful business results in the areas of schedule attainment, safety, quality, and cost.

  • Previous experience managing/supervising associates in a non-union manufacturing environment.

  • Ongoing passion to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to deliver bottom-line results. Must be a change agent.

  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must possess strong training/facilitation skills.

  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • SAP/Warehouse management software experience preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment employing Six Sigma concepts preferred.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$84,300-$121,200

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
