The successful candidate will join an existing global team of Applications Development and Technical Service specialists that supports CPChems Polyethylene (PE) products, applications, and customers worldwide. In this capacity, the candidate must be a team player and will be required to interact closely with sales, marketing, trade associations, research & technology, plant manufacturing, QA/QC and other company groups and personnel on a routine basis.An outline of the open position is as follows:**Purpose/Introduction (continued)****Film Technical Service Specialist** Candidate will support existing customers, help develop new customers, applications, grades, and product technology, enable business growth and work with our manufacturing and laboratory personnel to support internal efforts.The suitable candidate for the above-mentioned role must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to develop technical presentations/reports and maintain existing technical literature (technical data sheets, MSDS, brochures, etc.) current and up to date. The candidates will also be expected to provide technical training for internal and external customers and perform additional duties as assigned as outlined further below.This position requires frequent travel, by air, and must comply with CPChems travel policy and protocols. This position also requires frequent in-person attendance at meetings and large group events, some of which may be held in locations that require vaccinations for entry.**Responsibilities**+ Be responsible for complaints resolution and provide trouble-shooting expertise to resolve customer product and/or process related issues+ Work with other parts of the organization to determine root cause of product issues+ Direct in-house experimentation for troubleshooting and/or resin/application development efforts Conduct field trials at customer locations and document the information in reports+ Maintain customer and industry forums contacts and relationships Be a consultant to customers on resin selection and use+ Provide training to internal and external customers as requested Work with plants/licensees on manufacturing related technical issues+ Prepare written presentations/reports, technical literature and oral presentations summarizing project results. May be occasionally called upon to present results to business management and senior leadership.+ Represent CPChem in industry forums, trade associations, and standards bodies as may be appropriate for that job function or area+ Support and recommend programs that relate to current/future business needs Participate in group safety program and activities+ Participate in personnel development and recruiting**Responsibilities (continued)**+ Promote Safety and Operational Excellence Provide weekly reports+ Maintain resin property/performance database+ Execute resin evaluations and benchmarking (CPChem and competitors)Travel in support of job responsibilities and, depending on the specifics of the job role outlined below, may be up to 50% of the time with periods of lighter or heavier travel based on business needs. This position is part of the Global Polymers Applications Group. The position is located at the Bartlesville Research & Technology Center (greater Tulsa area).**Required Qualifications**The successful candidate will meet these requirements:+ **MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:** Bachelors degree + 3 years experience or High school diploma + 7 years experience.+ **INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:** Direct work experience with support of processing, equipment, and/or property testing of polymers and substrates used in the flexible packaging industry and demonstrated performance in these areas.+ **COMPUTER SKILLS:** Strong basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, data collection and basic data analysis.+ **COMMUNICATION SKILLS:** Excellent oral and written English skills and ability to communicate well across all levels within the organization.+ **Travel:** Ability to travel, domestic and international, according to business needs**Preferred Qualifications**+ Possess a bachelors degree or higher in a plastic technology, engineering, or scientific discipline. and a working knowledge of and experience with polymers and processing in the flexible packaging industry.+ Direct work experience with equipment and/or processing polymers using blown film, cast film, and/or extrusion coating processes.+ Experience with Technical Service, Product Development, and/or R&D activities.+ Experience and knowledge in polymer and flexible packaging property testing, ASTM Standards, etc.+ Familiarity or experience with polymer characterization methods/tools (e.g., thermal analysis, rheology, and FTIR, NMR, TEM, SEM, etc.).+ Good working knowledge and familiarity with polyethylene resins and products.+ Participation in industry organizations such as ASTM, Society of Plastics Engineers, Flexible Packaging Association, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, etc.Chevron Phillips Chemical offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package and at most locations, alternate work schedules.
