Responsibilities include ensuring shifts are staffed, assist in the development and implementation of pool policy, and conduct observations, inspections and training.This position will be expected to work approximately 20 hours each week with nights and rotating weekends required.Essential Job Functions+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will serve as a liaison between the Lifeguards, WSI's and the Aquatic Supervisor. Any problems should be reported directly to the Aquatic Supervisor.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will work shifts as needed, possibly on short notice, and be responsible for finding substitutes as needed.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will be designated 'on call' most weekends.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will be involved in discussions and the implementation of pool policies and procedures.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will be in charge in the absence of the Aquatic Supervisor.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities+ Must be currently certified in ARC Lifeguarding, First Aid, Professional Rescuer CPR, AED & Blood Borne Pathogen.+ Good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work well with others.+ Preferred knowledge of Hy-Tek swimming software+ Certifications preferred: Lifeguard Management, Lifeguard Instructor+ Computer skillsSupplemental information+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will aid in the scheduling of aquatic staff (regular shifts and special events).+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will be on site and coordinate lifeguard staff for tournaments and major pool rentals.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will inform/update aquatic staff of special events or circumstances through postings/emails and phone calls.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will conduct new staff training and orientation for Lifeguards and WSI's.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will make sure off site pass membership computers are performing and trouble shoot issues with staff.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will maintain the supply of forms, chemical testing and first aid supplies at each of the pools.+ The Aquatics Assistant/ Head Lifeguard will perform weekly inspections at the High School Pool and Wealthy Pool to include pool decks, locker rooms, and pool offices for cleanliness and/or problems, and check all aquatic equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will conduct observations of the Lifeguards and WSI's.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will aid in the running of regular staff meetings and in-services.+ The Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard will assist with the completion of weekly and monthly aquatic reports.+ All other responsibilities of the regular lifeguard staff are also expected of the Aquatics Assistant/Head Lifeguard.+ Other duties as assigned.The City of East Grand Rapids is an Equal Opportunity EmployerBenefits are not offered for this position.01Are you currently certified as an American Red Cross lifeguard?Required QuestionAgencyCity Of East Grand RapidsDepartmentParks and Recreation DepartmentAddress750 Lakeside Dr SE East Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49506Phone6169491750Websitehttps://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/eastgrApplyPlease verify your email address Verify Email
