Job Duties

Are you passionate about development and creating new and maintaining existing automation that can support the Commonwealth Treasury and ultimately the State? Do you have the desire, attitude, and aptitude as well as skill in .NET framework to join our team?

The Virginia Department of the Treasury is dedicated to serving the Commonwealth by providing excellent management of its banking, investing, and financing services and the administration of unclaimed property and insurance programs.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who either through experience, education, or self-taught methods, has a strong grasp using languages and technologies of the .NET framework. You will help create applications from scratch as well as configure existing systems and provide user support. The Programmer Analyst duties include but are not limited to designing, developing system applications, modifying existing agency applications, responding to help desk and system requests for system issues, communicating with various customers and vendors to resolve issues, creating and maintaining documentation, and ensuring all procedures and processes are being followed within the unit.

In this role, you should be able to write functional code with a sharp eye for spotting defects. You should be a team player and good communicator. If you are also passionate about the .NET framework and software design/architecture, we'd like to meet you.

Minimum Qualifications

The selected candidate will possess the following qualifications:•Considerable experience designing, writing, delivering and supporting enterprise level multi-user websites and web applications.•Demonstrated mature programming skills, and analysis, and application certification•Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining system documentation.•Proficiency in the following technologies: .NET, Visual Studio, C#, VB.NET, VBA, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS, SQL Server, XML, Web Services, Source Control, Content Management Systems.•Considerable experience with the software development lifecycle including waterfall, agile and other methodologies.•Proficiency performing technical and system support•Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization, both internal and external to the agency.•Ability to multi-task, meet critical deadlines, and work with minimal supervision, either independently or on a team.•Excellent communication (verbal and written), time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

Additional Considerations•Knowledge, skills and abilities in the management and development of Microsoft Sharepoint services.•Coursework in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent experience and/or training.
