We are seeking a highly motivated Program Support Tech Sr. in our Administrative Clerical Unit located at 1502 Williamson Rd. NE, Roanoke, VA 24012
Position description:Independently performs technical office tasks in support of one or more programs, continuously applying policy and procedures. Characteristic activities: serves as an expert contact and information resource for one or more programs; performs the most complex tasks for program services available in a health department or district; provides information to promote access to other services; serves as lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; researches and processes claims; gathers data and collects and prepares reports on program activities; develops, promotes and coordinates program activities, and may provide financial/procurement support as requested.1. Program Support•Serves as a lead and an expert information resource for one or more program areas•Performs complex tasks for program services•Directs and/or processes incoming inquiries and provides accurate information for program services•Designs and directs workflow processes•May assist with applications for services and MOAs•Supports the development and coordination of program activities•Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations2. Data Entry & Records Maintenance•Collects data and inputs data into established database and reviews for discrepancies•Maintains records in accordance with policies and procedures•May perform data analyses to assess trends•Gathers data and collects and prepares reports on program activities•Generates reports as needed3. Training & Technical Guidance•Provides guidance and resources on program specifics•Provides training to other support staff on processes, procedures, workflow and program details4. Other Duties•May be required to perform other duties; may include functions in support of an emergency declaration
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts.
Who We Are: The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD) are two health districts in the Commonwealth of Virginia under the Virginia Department of Health and employ approximately 140 staff. RCAHD encompasses the cities of Covington, Roanoke, and Salem and the counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Craig, and Roanoke.
What We Do: RCAHD, which provides services from nine office locations, serves a combined population of over 278,400 people throughout both rural and urban environments and works to promote and encourage healthy behavior, protect the public against environmental hazards, prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, respond to disasters, assist communities in recovery and assure the quality and accessibility of health services for all members of the communities.
The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, retirement plans (including 401a Cash Match and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan) as well as sick, family/personal, and annual leave.
VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination.
Minimum Qualifications•Working knowledge of medical office procedures, computer and softwaretechnology, use of policies & procedures and customer service.•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written•Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications andMicrosoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) andgeneral office equipment (copier, fax, calculator);•Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals•Ability to maintain confidentiality.•Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies
