Title: Lead Medicolegal Administrative Specialist - VDH00373 Tidewater State Role Title: Administrative & Office Support Specialist III Hiring Range: $57,000 - $60,500 Pay Band: 3 Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER-TDWT Agency Website: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/medical-examiner/ Recruitment Type: Agency Employee Only - A Job Duties This position serves as the lead member of the medicolegal administrative team under the district Regional Medicolegal Administrator and independently performs complex technical and administrative duties, continuously applying the Virginia Code, policy and procedures. The incumbent acts as an expert contact and information resource for one or more programs as well as other medicolegal administrative staff, performs complex technical duties for all program services available within the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner district office providing guidance and support to promote customer service and access to other services. Serves as the lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; collects and prepares reports on program activities; gathers data, analyses trends, validates and records information; evaluates information and documentation requests in accordance with the VA Code and prepares documentation; and develops, promotes and coordinates program activities. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge and experience in office procedures, standard office equipment and customer service processes. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Virginia Code Section 32.1-283 including the Virginia Department of Health Confidentiality Policy and limitations of information sharing, health records release, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Familiarity and experience with the Virginia Department of Health Code of Ethics. Ability to interpret and apply code, policy, and regulations as applicable to assigned program area. Ability to work independently. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database usage and data entry with strong keyboarding skills. Must possess a valid Driver's License Additional Considerations Experience working in an administrative/office setting and/or in a medical/healthcare setting. Handling complex medical records requests in compliance with Virginia Code sections and office procedures. Understanding of operations of state government, such as relevant programs, policies, and the Code of Virginia. Prior experience working with the following Commonwealth of Virginia and/or VDH programs: eVA, Electronic Death Reporting System, Web Vision and/or the OCME internal database, "VMEDS". Prior experience with the Virginia courts systems, subpoena receipt and processing. Possess critical thinking and analytic skills.
