Job Title: Cloud Architect Job Overview: The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the organization's cloud systems and applications. This role involves evaluating cloud solutions, developing scalable architectures, and ensuring security and compliance across cloud environments. The Cloud Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud platforms, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments. The role includes developing strategic roadmaps, assisting with cloud service provider offerings, and supporting data migration and security services for the organization. Key Responsibilities: Design and manage cloud systems, applications, and policies to align with the organization's cloud strategy. Develop scalable architectures for IaaS and PaaS environments to support application and infrastructure needs. Evaluate and recommend cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals. Oversee the migration of applications and data from on-premise systems to the cloud, as well as between different cloud providers. Assist in defining technical requirements for cloud service offerings to meet long-term objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure cloud services align with NIH or other government customer objectives. Ensure cloud environments meet security standards, including data protection and privacy. Monitor, assess, and improve cloud infrastructure security, ensuring adherence to NIST, FIPS, and other relevant regulations. Maintain and update security documentation and processes to ensure compliance with government policies. Continuously monitor cloud infrastructure performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues. Optimize cloud environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Design controls and processes that utilize available audit tools to improve security and compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientific and technical staff, to ensure that cloud environments meet strategic goals. Provide both executive and technical documentation, such as product roadmaps, policies, and best practices. Engage in strategic cloud assessments and report findings and recommendations to key stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Proven 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, with expertise in designing and managing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Strong knowledge of cloud security practices, including data protection, access management, and vulnerability assessment. Experience with cloud migration, IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid cloud environments. Proficiency in cloud infrastructure monitoring, optimization, and cost management. Ability to develop and present technical documentation, strategic roadmaps, and architecture recommendations. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders. Compensation and Benefits The projected compensation range for this position is $147,250 to $182,822 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $166,000.00. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
