Specialty: ED Holds/Tele# of beds: CRMC 60 ED Beds, MGMC 31 ED BedsRatios: 1 to 4Common diagnoses/Types of patients: ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/TeleWill be caring for patients from the ER who are waiting on a bed in the hospital.May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medication administration. Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment.Job Requirements
Must have a strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years.Must be able to manage cardiac drips per physicians’ orders and parameters.Are RNs required to titrate drips?: YesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, Heparin, AmiodaroneNurses must be able to read & interpret strips.Schedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hr shifts (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a)Ability to self-schedule; however, this could change from time to time.Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule.Holiday Requirement: Rotate in with the perm staffFloating Requirements: Would float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC EDs as needed.Unit Specific Information
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: ED charge nurse.Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: ED PCTs availableRT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): No VentsIs there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?: No monitor tech in the ED.Additional Details
Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start, through UNA, only (with 2 max attempts).There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on day one of orientation. If they fail, they will be sent home.Scrub Color/Dress Code: NavyUnit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus.First to float, could float to sister facility, CRMC.
