The Desktop Engineer will identify and apply advanced systems level technical expertise to resolve highly complex solution of technical problem for users. This position creates and maintains the SCCM packages, collections, reports, and inventory of software packages included in the creation of base desktop configurations. Develop, maintain and enhance standardized Windows Desktop builds (imaging). The Desktop Engineer is a recognized expert in Deploying OS and application updates, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, and Windows Operating Systems. The Desktop Engineer must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Strong understanding of Active Directory infrastructure and Group Policy Objects.Work with vendors to automate the imaging process.Solid knowledge of desktop imaging and Deployment tools.Develop, maintain and enhance standardized Windows Desktop builds (imaging), application packaging, and endpoint rollout processes.Supervises the installation and procedures of all desktop operating systems and approved software.Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft desktop operating systems, in particular Window 7 and 10.Manage Patch deployment using SCCM 2012.Prioritizes and responds to helpdesk tickets as appropriate.Create, test, release and support new window 7 and 10 standardized builds as needed and in accordance with a predetermined schedule using Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager SCCM 2012.Analyzes and resolves desktop system and application problems.Work with management to improve process and procedures related to Builds, and deployment of endpoint to employees and workers.Integrate packages and software deployments into SCCM distributions.Work with vendors to automate the desktop deployment.Training & Education:Maintains professional/technical knowledge by reading professional publications and attending continuing education seminars and classes.Knowledge of trends in technology relating to Microsoft OS and applicationsSpecial Projects:Participate in process improvement projects.QualificationsRequired:Four plus years’ experience as a Desktop Engineer.Strong knowledge of system development methodology, project management and problem solving skills.Must be able to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures and demanding environment.Must be a resourceful self-starter, flexible, pro-active, solution-oriented and customer-oriented.Preferred:Some college or technical school course work related to the Information Technology field a plus.License Certification:Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)Additional InformationSkills:Possesses strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, including application and Desktop troubleshooting ability.Ability to develop business relationships and communicate effectively with the developers, peers and supervisors.Strong writing skills and the ability to create professional business documents.Applies strong knowledge of processes and resources required to perform analytical and technical problem solving tasks.Ability to use data and logic to quickly find solutions to difficult challenges.Adheres to schedules and agendas and respects others’ time.Effectively prioritizes and executes tasks in a high-pressure environment.Adjusts effectively to new work demands, processes, structures and cultures.Works well independently or in teams.Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.Scheduled Weekly Hours:40
