Job/Position DescriptionWe are seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the Public Health Data Analyst (Data Analyst IV) position within the DSHS Center for Public Health Policy and Practice (CPHPP), Public Health Research Advancement Section. The Public Health Research Advancement Section facilitates the adoption of public health research into practice through leading analytic projects and providing technical support to agency programs to inform program and policy development and strengthen coordination of research activities across the agency, academia and external partners. The Section seeks to demonstrate the health and economic impact of agency programs and policies to maximize resources across the state. The Public Health Data Analyst provides complex data analysis and evaluation work using quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze and evaluate the impact of public health programs and policies as part of the Public Health Research Advancement Section. Work includes conducting literature reviews on public health topics of importance to CPHPP and agency priorities, supporting project and program leads in establishing and tracking performance measures, designing data collection tools and surveys, and analyzing data to identify and interpret data patterns and trends and assess data quality. This position coordinates and collaborates with other staff, DSHS programs, external agencies, academic researchers, and other external partners on data projects and is responsible for preparing presentations, reports, and data visualizations to communicate findings to executive staff and external audiences. This position works under general supervision of the Director of Public Health Research Advancement with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Public Health Data Analyst should be experienced in data analysis utilizing multiple statistical methods and in working with large data sets, health-related data, survey data, and qualitative data.Essential Job FunctionsData Collection and Management (20%): Supports the development and implementation of data collection, data quality, and reporting standards and processes to track progress of grant-funded and program activities to ensure consistency, integrity, and accuracy of data. Uses qualitative and quantitative methods to track performance measures and collect data from CPHPP staff, other programs, and external partners to evaluate grant progress, identify themes and patterns and ensure data quality. Develops and maintains data management standards, guidelines, and procedures for CPHPP data projects. Recommends and implements data process improvements to improve data quality and advance grant and program objectives.Analysis and Evaluation (30%): Works closely with the CPHPP Public Health Research Advancement team to conduct analytic and evaluation projects related to CPHPP grant activities and other agency public health priorities. Reviews and analyzes existing data sets and literature and develops data analysis plans to include goals and objectives, project timelines, and data instruments. Applies evaluation and analysis principles to identify the best data sources, statistical data analysis methods, and techniques available.
