Job Description
Summary/objective
Manage, coordinate, and administer from inception to final completion all aspects of capital projects for new construction, renovations, and other related facilities projects assigned in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure that service contract providers are meeting or exceeding their contractual requirements. Also ensure that each project addresses the expectations of the College's environmental and sustainability efforts when possible. Manages project communication, procurement, budgeting, and scheduling. May handle multiple projects.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of capital projects, project management, and/or engineering as it relates to all new construction and renovation projectsManages with other departments, outside entities, engineering design services consultants, and construction contractors to ensure project delivery by applicable deadlines and within budgetEffectively manage projects within set budget, schedule. and scope. Maintain and monitor project budgets for periodic review with the VPFA and others as neededDemonstrates moderate to expert computer skills for the purposes of contract negotiation, job scheduling, project operations, project presentations, and other areas based on the needs of the CollegeCoordinates required project permits and bidding process as necessary for capital projectsKeep VPFA and other applicable College personnel informed and current on progress, problems, and objectivesAttends meetings, presents information, and answers relevant questions.Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, ADA, DCR, OSFM, etc.Ensure new College property and equipment is tagged in accordance with College policy in a timely fashionAssist VPFA with contract review and/or preparation.Work closely with College's Campus Safety Office to create a high level of construction safety awareness on all construction projectsComply with established safety and risk management guidelinesServe on various committees as needed per the VPFACompletes special projects as requested and other tasks as required by the VPFACompetencies
Fundamental knowledge of planning and construction techniques.Fundamental knowledge of budget creation and tracking.Strong organizational, interpersonal, project management, and problem solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to plan projects and prepare and/or review related designs, estimates, and specifications.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and functional knowledge of engineering-related software.Ability to research and render timely, competent, and technical decisions and to understand technical facility drawings and contracts.Moderate to expert mathematical skills for project estimation and budgeting.Supervisory responsibilities

Position typically works on job sites and office environment.
Physical demands
Requires standing/walking/sitting for extended periods. May occasionally lift 10/15 lbs. Requires the ability to access all areas of construction sites and facilities, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, as well as to enter confined spaces to assess conditions and perform inspections of existing conditions and/or new work
Travel required
May travel infrequently on College business
Required education and experience
Bachelor's degree required in architecture or a related construction or engineering field.Minimum of five years of experience in construction, architectural, or engineering fields.Preferred education and experience
Experience working in a higher education environment
