Job DescriptionJob Summary

The Director of Capital Projects oversees multifaceted, multi-functional and multi-disciplined engineered capital replacement and retrofit projects from their conceptualization, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure. Supports and establishes overall plan, direction, and leadership for a large group of project managers, engineers and technical professionals that provide project management, design and engineering

support for the non-nuclear Generation fleet while ensuring compliance with budget and contractual obligations; company safety, regulatory (environmental, NERC, WECC), quality and technical requirements within annual funding and schedule constraints. Performs a key leadership role in business decision-making, problem solving, leadership development and performance management.

Major Accountabilities

1) Influences and sets direction of capital projects within the non-nuclear generation fleet. Directs all stages of planning, engineering, and construction to successfully execute a high volume of low to high complex and impactful retrofit projects in to ensure the continued reliability of existing power generation capacity.

2) Develops and manages the achievement of long-term and short-term goals that have fleet-wide impact. Implements strategies, initiatives, and objectives to support the mission to provide reliable and cost-effective service to new and existing customers.

3) Plans, evaluates, and recommends strategies, programs, policies and processes that align and support the overall business objectives.

4) Oversees multiple project management and contract teams. Selects and develops a high performing team through effective coaching, performance management and feedback, rewards and recognition, and training and development opportunities.

5) Full authority for the development and management of the department and project budgets. Tracks and reports project costs and adherence to project estimates. Initiates actions in cases of deviations.

Minimum Requirements• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Project Management and/or other directly related field from an accredited college or university.• Ten (10) years' experience in engineering, construction management, project management and/or other directly related field.• In lieu of bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in engineering, construction management, project management and/or other related field equaling 14 years.• Five (5) years' experience in supervisory/management positions.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications• Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Risk Management Professional (RMP) certification.• Experience planning, executing, and managing a high volume of low to high complex and impactful retrofit and replacement projects in support of a diverse generation fleet.• Experience negotiating contracts.• Experience in directing multi-discipline teams.
