Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Status: Full-Time, ExemptWC/GL: 8742 / 1100Job Summary:The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the organization—a non-profit, veteran service agency—by working directly with the Board of Directors and other Executive Staff to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and organizational structure and policies. This position directly supervises the Executive Team and staff assigned to the Office of the CEO who provide administrative, operational, and executive-level support. This position is primarily in-person, located in Santa Rosa, California and requires up to 30% travel.Job Duties:In collaboration with the Board of Directors and Executive Staff, lead the development of the agency's strategic goals, programs, and structure.Fosters agency culture that attracts and motivates a dynamic staff consisting of highly-qualified and dedicated employees.Works in collaboration with the Board of Directors to successfully identify and obtain diverse funding opportunities.Plans, develops, and analyzes the organization's fiscal function and performance in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Administrative Officer.Participates in and leads in the development of the agency's plans and programs as a strategic partner and leader.Evaluates and advises the Board of Directors and Executive Staff on the impact of long-range planning and goals as it relates to individualized federal grants and contract awards.Follows changes in state, local, and federal regulations related to veteran-specific funding initiatives. Works directly with community partners, veterans associations, and public figures to advance legislation and public policies benefiting Nation's Finest's mission as it relates to at-risk veterans and veteran families.Enhances and develops policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization.Establishes credibility with the Board of Directors and community partners by developing and implementing solutions to business challenges specific to non-profit organizations.Improves agency efficiency and efficacy by providing for the education of department managers and executive staff.Cultivates relationships with community partners to develop meaningful external referral resources, agency development opportunities, and political presence in the communities the organization serves.Works closely with the Executive Team to analyze programmatic needs, contract compliance, and long-term personnel forecasting.Assists in the development and analysis of Nation's Finest's annual budgeting process and cash flow to assist in the implementation of administrative and operational systems for financial management and efficient program operation.Works directly with the Board to fulfill the organizational mission. Responsible for leading Nation's Finest in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission, as defined by the Board of Directors.Works in collaboration with the Board of Directors to identify, recruit, and seat new Board members to ensure successful governance of the organization.Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing all necessary information to allow the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions for the agency.In collaboration with Finance and Operations, develops reliable financial projection processes and reporting mechanisms.Maintains current knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations which may impact the overall fiscal health and operational function of the agency.Maintains current knowledge of workplace best practices and ensures the workplace is lead in a way that encourages a collaborative and supportive environment for all employees.Works with Nation's Finest's controlled development entity, CFO, and other Director-level Nation's Finest staff to oversee Nation's Finest's responsibility as a Lead Service Provider (LSP) for multiple large development properties.Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.Required Job Skills:Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal public officials and community partners in various communities throughout multiple states.Proven, advanced leadership skills.Ability to collaborate successfully with a diverse Board of Directors.Ability to read and analyze complex financial statements and organizational budget projections, including proven knowledge of fiscal management within a non-profit organization.Ability to work with advocacy organizations, and research, organize and present information related to government funding and complex legislation.Understanding of long-term impact of the implementation of complex programs involving multiple government and private funding streams.Proven ability to create, analyze, and submit sophisticated state and federal grant and contract reports and summaries.Exceptional people skills. Ability to maintain a professional disposition and remain positive and supportive in the performance of all job duties. Ability to give formal and informal group presentations.Ability to work as a productive leader of an executive team.Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks while maintaining a stable work environment.Capacity to remain conscious of evolving personnel needs throughout the organization.Expertise in developing funding streams and policy priorities through the creation of external political and community alliances.Demonstrated ability to oversee the management of grant programs, budgets ranging from $30-$100 million per year, and federal financial audits.Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, progressive workforce and a proven ability to act as a supportive, people-first leader focused on strengthening and empowering workplace teams.Proven ability to communicate honestly and transparently, with a high degree of comfort with fiscal accountability.Ability to drive organizational culture and champion best practices, exemplifying the tenets of responsible service oriented leadership.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Finance, or related field preferred. A minimum of 10 years' experience working as an exempt-level leader (director to executive level) within a non-profit organization or public agency. At least five years' experience working as an Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, or Chief Executive Officer within an organization operating with multiple complex contracts and federal awards required. At least five years' experience working in an organization which serves at-risk populations. Experience drafting large-scale proposals and speaking in front of large groups. Knowledge of VA funding, state veteran programs, and non-profit management required. Expertise in contract negotiation and federal contractor requirements required. Knowledge of federal and state housing regulations highly desirable. Veteran status is desirable but not required.Physical Requirements:Office environment. Requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move or carry office supplies and materials weighing 20 pounds or less. Finger dexterity required for computer keyboard operation.Offering:

Full time, exempt position. Salary $250,000 - $325,000 per year, DOE. Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits with 401K match.
