The purpose of Florida educator certification is to support the academic achievement of students by assuring that educators are professionally qualified for highly effective instruction. Description:
The Program Specialist I position is responsible for processing all incoming fingerprint correspondence, forms, applications, and ensuring that all documents are accurately entered into the Bureau of Educator Certification database and imaging system daily. This position performs highly technical work requiring expertise in operating the optical image filing system for maintaining records for Educator Certification purposes, including database retrieval and optical image filing. The position requires great attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to attain an acceptable rate for accurate production in a high-volume work environment.
The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.The employee's performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the team.The employee must interact courteously with others.General Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for maintaining an organized workspace.This position must work independently in a fast-paced team environment.Attendance is an essential function of this position.Specific Responsibilities

Serve as the Bureau's Records Management Team coordinator for applicant fingerprint processing.Serve as the certification liaison with DOE Professional Practices Services (PPS), the Educator Recovery Network (ERN) and Education Practices Commission (EPC) for all issues related to investigative referrals of applicant cases.Screen all fingerprint result submissions from all Florida Public School districts to ensure FDLE and FBI records are attached and that the background screening is acceptable according to established DOE policies and procedures.Maintain current Criminal Justice Information Services certification.Perform established procedures, places/updates appropriate alert(s) on all files when new criminal offense record(s) received.Prepare documents in accordance with Bureau policies and procedures.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.Technology and computer experience.Certification Management System (Versa) software experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Office experience.Previous experience working in an office setting.
