The IT Team provides design, development, security, and support to a broad spectrum of computer hardware and software components, all working together for the benefit of departments throughout St. Charles Health System. We partner with our customers to best leverage various technologies to achieve the best patient outcomes possible by implementing new hardware and software solutions, upgrading existing environments, protecting the data we store, and integrating different solutions to achieve a seamless experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The
Network Engineer II
at St. Charles Health System is responsible for supporting the computer network and data systems throughout the St. Charles Health System including the data center. This position is responsible for the reliability, performance, security, data integrity, and future direction of all network infrastructure resources. The Engineer must establish effective communication with business, operations, and managers within St. Charles Health System. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Provides excellent customer service, supports network infrastructure, and maintains a focus on providing consistently robust and reliable services.
Ensures capacity and reliability of network infrastructure core-to-edge, including supporting infrastructure such as fiber/copper lines, leased lines, and status monitoring.
Ensures capacity and reliability of network operations center (NOC), including support phone line, team call rotation, dashboard screens for key performance indicators (KPI) & system status monitoring, and alert/outage response.
Maintains compliance with service level agreements (SLA), network quality of service (QoS), and network uptime standards.
Provides proactive monitoring of services and systems for fastest response and accountability.
Assists with switch, router, firewall & wireless installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting.
Participates in the following: design of the hospital's network; selects types of equipment, manufacturers, and topologies for effective and efficient access.
Participates as a team member and fully supports efforts of the IT Leadership for the purpose of building a strong department team.
Participates in advanced planning and project management for new technology initiatives.
Provides technical and project support for the hospital's network infrastructure efforts to ensure industry best practices are adopted and used.
Follows configuration and operational standards, procedures, documentation, and presentations.
Perform role of escalation point for troubleshooting of technical issues related to network infrastructure, including communication, to technical staff.
Participates in vendor relationships to effectively acquire products, services and support.
Investigates new technologies and evaluates feasibility with St. Charles Health System needs and plans.
Participates in presentations to various business groups on innovative technology, technical issues and processes used by IT.
Maintains current knowledge of networking technologies and best practices.
Provides on-call support as scheduled.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Perform confidential forensic investigations on computers, servers and network as assigned.
Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.
Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP- Lean) principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related discipline required. Equivalent work experience and similar successful experience may be substituted for education.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Required:
Possession of a Cisco CCNA (Cisco certified network associate) certificate in a relevant sub-discipline within one year of hire. Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all St. Charles Health System worksites.

EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Minimum four (4) years of experience in the utilization of data processing principles and techniques which includes supporting network infrastructure, project management, or coordinating the operations. Must have proven skills in planning and managing ongoing projects. Necessary skills to accomplish a variety of engineering tasks and be able to accomplish tasks obtaining cost estimates, participating on project teams, and defining operational standards.
Preferred:
Healthcare experience. Experience in Cisco networks, Cisco Unified Communications Platform, fiber-based WAN, VpIP, wireless, enterprise-level network management and planning, project management, SAN, VMware, and Exchange/Outlook.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, carrying 1-10 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle for caregivers that are couriers.
