General Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS A PROGRAM MANAGER!
Assisting the Director of Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources with professional public communications work that involves managing public outreach, marketing, public relations and promotional activities. Provides public information and awareness of the department's services, operations, programs, and projects. Designs, writes and produces outreach/marketing and educational materials for distributionin providing coordination for the communication and public information/media (both traditional and digital) outreach and materials for the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners, employees, citizens and stakeholders. Supervises team responsible social media internal communication and cultural event coordination.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for the managing and creating all the departments public communication and outreach content. Writes and edits a variety of documentation which includes brochures, press releases, presentations, direct mail and articles for publication. Performs work that includes gathering, writing and editing material to be released to the media. Designs, writes, and produces marketing materials for distribution. Prepares artwork for print production. Creates web pages, writes content and maintains website with updates. Represents the department at events to promote the department's services, operations, and programs available to the public. Delivers presentations to communities educating the public on stormwater pollution prevention. Produces educational videos and public service announcements.
Supervises department's communication and outreach team. Plans, coordinates and reviews the work of consulting contractors engaged in the administration and management of public awareness initiatives. Prepares reports and schedules as required. Manages the collection, analysis and presentation of facts for use in community presentations and requests for information. Develops outreach materials regarding programming, and other department special projects and initiatives. Represents the County at Public meetings and workshops. Collaborates with a variety of teams to produce high quality promotional and informational materials for traditional and cutting-edge markets. Assists department in analyzing key statistics to develop traditional and digital marketing materials and strategies. Develops and implements short-term and long-term media plans and prepares Department press releases. Directs the necessary interdepartmental work for public outreach, engagement and information and maintains cutting-edge social media presence and updates a wide variety of online website content. May assist in coordination of press conferences, public hearings and special community meetings. Acts as liaison to the County's tourism office and to the Public Information Office. Participates in public speaking engagements and represents the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department at the interdepartmental and intergovernmental meetings. Performs other management and administrative functions as directed by the Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong public speaking skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the local media, consultants, the public, employees and government officials.Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of public relations.Knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of professional print media digital and editing.Knowledge of the techniques of composing and editing publicity material.Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, graphic and visual form.Ability to appear on camera, conduct on-camera interview and effectively communicate information.Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices and the techniques of composing and editing publicity material.Knowledge of research techniques, sources and availability of information.Ability to assemble and write a variety of news releases, pamphlets and other traditional and digital marketing materials.Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in both written and oral form.Ability to supervise and coordinate complex projects effectively.Ability to work with various groups and stakeholders to complete projects and initiativesAbility to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with County employees, citizens and State and Federal officials.Ability to work weekends and nights, as needed.Ability to deal with the public, media, county officials and specialized interest groups in an effective and courteous manner.Ability to work during Emergency Operations Center activations.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS:

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, Recreation and Leisure Services or other related fields and five (5) years professional marketing communications, public relations, graphic design, website development or related field. Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with other programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

Must Possess a valid Florida driver's license.
