Description

We're excited to announce an opening for a Senior Plans Examiner to join our team! This critical role is suited for a knowledgeable professional in building code compliance and plan review who is eager to grow with the City of Forney.

Examples of Duties

Under general supervision, performs tasks associated with supplying planning and zoning information regarding applications for zoning, platting, residential and commercial board of adjustments, and certificate of appropriateness. Assists the public, developers, and contractors in assigned planning activities and application process.

Acts as the primary point of contact for the building plan review process; researches and reviews construction plans submitted to the City for compliance with codes and standards; applies ordinance requirements from building, residential, energy, fire, and PMG codes.Checks zoning requirements, including setbacks, lot coverage, height, and parking ratios.Communicates with design professionals, citizens, and contractors to resolve conflicts and concerns.Documents construction compliance and perform site visits to confirm existing conditions.Schedules and attends development review committee and pre-construction meetings.Analyzes energy compliance reports; assists with building inspections as necessary; prioritizes tasks to maintain low turnaround times; performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

No direct supervision exercised; may exercise occasional administrative and functional supervision for specified activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Possess a valid driver's license.Must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.Five (5) years experience in residential and commercial plan review, city building inspection, code enforcement, or equivalent.Special Requirements:

Must possess an ICC Building Plans Examiner, and an ICC Residential Plans Examiner certification.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
