QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be knowledgeable and skilled in nutrition and food preparation.
Must be able to effectively give and follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be physically able to perform the required work.
Must be able to manage and supervise employees.
Must have a disposition that supports working with the public.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal(s) and Superintendent
SUPERVISES:
Food Service Employees
JOB GOAL:
To ensure an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students will be served appetizing and nutritious meals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchase and maintain an inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment under established district procedures. Inventory must be sent to the business office at the end of each year.
Check all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting them to the business office for payment.
Apply for and plan disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program.
Assume responsibility for processing free or reduced meal applications, verification, and monthly claims.
Supervise the planning and preparation of any special meals required for district-sponsored events.
Assist principals and teachers in the instructional phases of the lunchroom program and in the classroom instructional units of work pertaining to nutrition.
