TITLE: Food Service Manager I
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A working understanding of the basic philosophy and functions of the National School Lunch Program.
2. A knowledge of basic nutrition facts and menu making as they pertain to the school lunch program.
3. Ability to supervise the staff of co-workers assigned to a particular school lunchroom.
4. Ability to plan, prepare, and serve nutritionally-appropriate and appetite-appealing lunches.
5. Ability to operate all equipment used in school lunchrooms.
6. Knowledge of simple bookkeeping processes as they apply to this program.
7. An understanding of cost control methods.
8. Ability to maintain harmonious relations with subordinates, employees, principals, teachers, children, and the general public.
9. High school graduation or its equivalent.
10. Five years or more experience preferred as a lunchroom assistant with experience in all phases of production and operation.
11. Ability to obtain a food handler's card as issued by the City of Dearborn.
PERFORMANCERESPONSIBILITIES:
*1. The lunchroom manager instructs, directs, assigns, and supervises her assistants in the preparation of food to coincide with the established serving hours.
* 2. Adapt suggested menu patterns to fit local situations.
* 3. Plan menus, and estimate food and labor costs for special meals when required.
* 4. Estimate quantity of food needed, check supplies on hand, and place orders for supplies as needed.
* 5. Plan, lay out, and supervise the work of subordinates.
* 6. Maintain a high degree of sanitation in all lunchroom facilities.
TERMS OFEMPLOYMENT: 10 Months, DFSE salary schedule
