Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Grants Manager within the Office of Grants Award Services (OGAS). The Grants Manager will provide oversight, leadership, planning, and operational management for sponsored project proposal (pre-award) activities for the institution. This position will provide support and guidance to staff and faculty in seeking and applying for external sponsored project funding, and serve as the primary contact for pre-award.
The incumbent will facilitate the launching, integration, and training of Cayuse pre-award software for the University. Additionally, the Grants Manager will assist the Director of Grants Award Services with post award administration of all federal, state, and private sponsored projects (grants and contracts) made to the institution. The incumbent must possess excellent communication and project management skills.
In conjunction with the Director, the Grants Manager will analyze pre- and post-award policies and procedures and create/implement new, or modify existing, policies and/or procedures to promote grant award compliance, management, efficiency, and productivity within the department and campus. The Grants Manager understands, communicates, and promotes institutional policies and procedures affecting sponsored projects. This position will act as primary liaison between Principal Investigators, the Provost Office/Academic Affairs, and Financial Services.

Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate, manage, coordinate, and track the development, grant writing, proposal review and approval, and submission processes of sponsored project proposals, including integration of new pre-award Cayuse software with existing University policies and procedures. Interpret complex grant requirements and provide guidance to faculty, staff, and administrators to support the development of competitive proposals. Ensure grant proposals are reviewed and approved by all appropriate divisions, units, and executives. Provide support to staff and faculty with sponsored project proposal budget development. Assist with the technical preparation and submission of proposals in various grant systems (e.g., Grants.gov, Research.gov, ASSIST, EPAGE). Ensure proposals are submitted in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with institutional, agency-specific, and federal policies. Update and maintain pre-award documents, systems, resources, training, and administration. Assist the Director of Grants Awards Services in conducting post-award grant management for the institution, including financial and effort reporting. Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements in compliance with Uniform Guidance and ensure all appropriate flow-down terms and conditions are included; ensure compliance with subcontract monitoring/reporting requirements. Understand and use various systems/websites for pre- and post-award grant administration (Workday, Grants.gov, G5/G6, Research.gov, EPAGE, PMS, etc.); includes proposal submission, drawdown of funds, and other financial reporting. Assist OGAS staff with set up, monitoring, and close out of awards per terms and conditions. Review, revise, and/or develop policies and procedures to enhance and promote grant award administration and research compliance. Provide communications and guidance to PIs, faculty, and staff based on up-to-date federal/state and institutional grant practices and policies. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Three years of experience working in sponsored programs/grant administration, including direct experience with state or federal grants. At least two years of direct experience in pre-award grant administration. Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas). Budgeted salary for this position is $74,241. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
