Job Description

Nevada State University

actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as-needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Nevada State invites applications for an open pool of pool of adjunct faculty for in-person, online or hybrid courses in the Speech Pathology Program. This year our preference is for in-person or hybrid teaching. Course teaching could be undergraduate or graduate level, and include, but are not limited to, speech sound disorders, audiology, neurology, speech and hearing communication science. Clinical supervision opportunities are also available at our Nevada State on-campus clinic and/or our RiteCare clinic in downtown Las Vegas. Individuals who are collaborative and innovative in their approach to preparing speech language pathologists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.

Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour. Courses range from 1-3 credits.

Teaching and Practicum Supervision Positions: The School of Education is committed to hands-on learning, predicated upon application-based and student-centered instruction. Incumbents must be effective communicators who are able to present content using authentic examples, challenge students to think critically, differentiate instruction, and teach in a multi-modal fashion. They will be able to scaffold instruction effectively by providing prompts and cues to help students understand content and apply the skills, as well as use a variety of resources to teach classes (e.g., videos, online simulations, guest speakers, clinical case studies, application).

Successful applicants will be proficient in presenting content and engaging students effectively online and/or in person, and assessing students' progress/effectiveness. They will demonstrate a commitment to planning and preparation of their courses.

Successful applicants will be strong communicators with effective mentoring skills, who are committed to preparing excellent speech and language pathologists. Practicum supervisors, in particular, will have exemplary writing skills including the ability to concisely prepare observation reports that result in changes and lead to direct action that the students can understand and implement.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or closely-related field. Active Certificate of Clinical Competence - ASHA CCCs. Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students. Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas). Please note:

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Speech in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or closely-related field, particularly for graduate level teaching (not required for clinical supervision).
