Job Summary
The Transportation Director under the direction and supervision of the EVP-PACE is responsible for developing a strategic plan which includes procurement and retirement of vehicles, implementing policies, procedures, safety, and training programs that will ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and guidelines, as well as client guidelines and policies. Oversee all aspects of the operations staff, primarily the drivers and dispatch staff along with the maintenance of all vehicles to ensure that the daily operations and the needs of our clients are served effectively, efficiently, and delivered based on client requirements. Will make every effort to ensure the safest and highest quality transportation experience for our passengers while operating within the budget.
Essential Job Functions
Provides leadership and manages the transportation staff, ensuring coordination of services across all locations operated and managed by MJH and FPC, that participant safety is maintained, and that staff is effectively performing, also responsible to ensure all vehicles are maintained for optimum performance through preventative maintenance and manages the FLDOT grant programDevelops a strategy for goals and objectives to meet future needs of the organizationProvides a strategy and leadership to ensure technology is adopted and used to facilitate optimal outcomes for all stakeholdersAdvances the goals and objectives of the organization by developing supporting department specific performance goals, implementing quality improvement plans in the department, monitoring financial targets, and working collaboratively with other managers on issues related to quality programming, efficiency and cost effectivenessMaintains active involvement in the promotion of MJHS and affiliates in the communityEnsures delivery of quality services by overseeing the department's compliance with regulatory requirements, updates to policies and procedures and safety guidelines, while leading continuous process improvement and risk management effortsServes as an effective link with administration through effective communication, productive collaboration, demonstrated leadership and facilitation of change opportunitiesEnsures all necessary program records are maintained according to policyCollects and maintains data for reporting purposesParticipates in department meetings and in-services as necessary.Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Miami Jewish Health SystemsCompletes other job duties related to MJHS/PACE participants as assignedJob Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or commensurate experience in transportation/fleet management for multisite operationExperience:
Two years of supervisory experience preferred2-4 years' experience in management/supervision/financial management in fixed route and paratransit operating environment requiredLicenses/Certifications:
Current Florida Driver's LicenseAbilities Required
Skilled facilitator and problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of Dade County streets and routesAbility to get in and out of the buses constantly to assist passengersKnowledge of maintenance program for vehiclesOperates equipment to assist disabled personsAdvanced MS Excel and/or Access database, Word, and PowerPointThorough knowledge of ADA & DOT regulations and related transit operations preferredKnowledge of transportation routing softwareAbility to develop a strategic vision for ongoing growth and provision of transportation servicesMay be required to drive a company or rental vehicle (failure to pass an annual Motor Vehicle Record MVR) background screen may result in termination of employmentFunctional Demands
