Anything less just wouldn't be Proper.Job OverviewReporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Finance Director is responsible for providing key support to both the DOF and department personnel. This position will include tasks related to accounting, financial planning and analysis, general ledger oversight and financial reporting.Responsibilities/DutiesManage the Accounting department's daily and monthly activitiesManage the hotel's financial activities including financial reporting, assisting the DOF in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and controlsPartner with the Accounting team to ensure that all financials are recorded accurately, timely and in compliance with accounting standards and regulationsFormulate, recommend for approval and ensure implementation of approved accounting policies and procedures; work closely with DOF to establish and maintain efficient workflowsPerform various duties relating to the preparation and maintenance of monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting as well as the hotel's accounting records, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, analyzing accounts and preparing periodic financial statementsInitiate wire transfers for operating accounts as needed; give secondary approval on all wire transfers initiated by the Director of FinanceAccurately reconcile the balance sheet on a monthly basisAssist the Director of Finance in closing the books on a monthly basisPrepare and maintain procedure manuals for the Accounting departmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsPossess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skillsExperience with training, financial management and customer serviceFamiliar and comfortable with interviewing candidates, handling colleague concerns and holding colleagues accountableA true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced lifestyle luxury environmentCapable of producing a consistent product in a timely mannerAble to communicate effectively with the management team, guests, and colleaguesTeam builder and ability to successfully manage and develop a teamRequired Skills/Abilities5+ years of Accounting experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field requiredHospitality experience requiredOnsite 5 days/weekAbility to break down barriers and resolving potential conflicts swiftly and effortlesslyStrong communication and presentation skills to all levels of managementAbility to think outside the box and approach all issues with a completely fresh approachAbility to anticipate needs and over deliver wherever possibleAbility to change direction and work on multiple projects aspects at onceEnthusiastic, passionate and able to enthuse and motivate othersCompany OverviewProper Hospitality is made up of a diverse group of passionate individuals who share a common love for hotels and the art of hospitality.
