Position SummaryThe Software Test Engineer is also responsible for 98-Software Test Descriptions (STDs) that are implemented quarterly to ensure that both the PdM Mission Network and PdM Network Modernization program are meeting the requirement traceability matrix (RTM). The Software Test Engineer is also responsible of the Contract Witness Testing (CWT), Government Witness Testing (GWT), and Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT). The results of the STDs are submitted to the government through a Software Test Report (STR).
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but not limited to:
Write and deliver monthly reports on the testing procedures taken and ensuring results or findings to working meetings to develop software that supports the needs of the client.
Test troubleshooting methods, devise innovative solutions, and documented resolutions for inclusion in knowledge based for support team use.
Identify specific software applications through vendors (Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba) and implement test procedures to ensure products perform to specifications prior to government witness testing of system.
Gather data on integration issues and vulnerabilities and reported all findings including improvement recommendations for future use and design of the Network Modernization systems.
Provide organizational skills through a software development process by meeting strict deadlines and maintaining good rapport with the client and supporting the entire SDLC for the product by working across teams to give technical guidance.
Meet the CMMI Level 3 requirements for a Software Test Engineer through creation of a Master Test Plan, Software Test Plans, Test Descriptions, and Test Reports.
Work with the Software Development team to create products that align with customer needs and requirements.
Design manual and automated tests that can be used to evaluate software from various angles, such as quality, speed, accuracy, and functionality (including white box, black box, and gray box testing methods).
Communicate the recommended fixes to the software development team along with documentation that backs up what needs to be addressed and how.
Convert manual test cases into automated cases in an existing framework using PowerShell and VBS.
Obtain customer feedback and make recommendations based on learnings.
RequirementsKnowledge and Skills
5 years’ experience as a Software Test Engineer or similar role
2+ years of Professional Coding experience with any programming language
2+ years of relevant experience as part of a test team
2+ years of experience contributing to test automation and frameworks.
Experience applying different software testing techniques, such as equivalent class portioning and boundary value testing.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Technical field such as IT, Engineering, Math, Physics, or similar with Computer Science coursework or minor. Computer Science Degree accepted but not required.
Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance
Other Qualifications
Relevant industry certifications, such as the Certified associate in software Testing (CAST) or the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification.
